Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurates Sambalpur-Rourkela Biju Expressway at Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik dedicated Rourkela-Jharsuguda-Sambalpur stretch of the Biju Expressway at Jharsuguda. The 163-km long road has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1200 crores.

The Biju Expressway has been completed between Sambalpur and Rourkela. Later, the project will connect four districts of western Odisha like Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh with four KBK (Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput) districts namely Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada.

The Biju Expressway project aims at connecting western and southern Odisha. The four lane road having a total length of 650 km will connect Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Koraput.

The ₹3000Cr Biju Expressway project spans across 650 km (4-lane), connecting western & southern Odisha, a new socio-economic lifeline for the people. “Biju Expressway is an accomplishment of Biju Babu’s vision of making Odisha an economic powerhouse by providing connectivity, infrastructure & industrialisation. In fact, Expressway connecting South to West Odisha was his plan,” says CM Patnaik.
