Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister (CM) Naveen Patnaik today felicitated the brave girl, Mamata of Bankual village of Rajnagar in Kendrapara district at State Secretariat.
CM Naveen Patnaik today invited both the sisters to the State Secretariat, felicitated them and also took selfie with them. Naveen enquired the girls about that fateful incident and heaped praise on them. CM Patnaik also presented then bi-cycles . He even directed the Collector to facilitate their studies. It should be noted that on 4th April six-year old Mamata has displayed exceptional courage and alertness to rescue her sister Asanti from the jaws of crocodile following which tale of her valour made her famous overnight. The two sisters are studying in Class II.

I was delighted to meet little braveheart Tiki (Mamata) and Basanti (Ashanti) from Bhitarkanika Bangual village of Kendrapara district today. The courage Tiki displayed in fighting a crocodile and saving her best friend and cousin is truly inspiring.

“She is a bundle of energy. I could not help but notice the twinkle of fearlessness in her eyes. While interacting with both of them, I couldn’t resist taking my first set of selfies with the little heros. My first attempt at selfie may not be as neat as today’s youngsters are able to take, but these ones will forever be among my dearest ones and close to my heart,” said CM Patnaik after the meeting.
