Odisha Cabinet approved 7th Pay Commission recommendations, Food and Procurement Policy

Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet on Tuesday approved the State Government’s proposal to implement the 7th Pay Commission recommendations to pay salary and pension to in-service employees and pensioners retrospectively from January 1, 2016.Chief Secretary AP Padhi informed this at a Press meet after the Cabinet meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The amended salary and pension would be calculated at a 2.57 rate over the present salary and pension. The lowest salary and pension have been calculated at Rs 16,600 and Rs 8, 300 respectively.

An employee would be able to get full pension if he or she leaves or retires after completing 25 years in job.

The gratuity limit has been increased from Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. The Cabinet also gave its nod to ‘Food and Procurement Policy for Kharif Marketing Season 2017-18’. A tentative target of 36 lakh metric tonne in terms of rice (53 lakh metric tonne in terms of paddy) has been targeted to be collected. Kharif paddy will be procured during period from November 2017 to April 2018 and Rabi paddy during May and June 2018.

Besides, the Cabinet approved seven other proposals. It approved the proposal for a fresh agreement between the State Government and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) relating to the Paradip Refinery that would fetch an annual revenue of Rs 1,500 crore to the State exchequer per annum.

Similarly, the ‘Mobile Towers, Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) and Related Telecom Infrastructure Policy-2017’ was approved by the Cabinet.

“Special provisions have been made in this policy for KBK and LWE affected areas. It will help in establishment of modern telecommunication infrastructure to provide high speed internet in rural areas.

It will also improve terrestrial Broadband connectivity in both urban and rural areas,” said an official release.

There is provision of dealing with public grievances relating to installation of towers and issues related to Telecom Infrastructure in this Policy through District Level Telecom Committee and State Level Telecom Committee, it added.
