Odisha: BMC Prepares for Durga Puja; Four Temporary ponds for immersion

Special Drive for Pot hole repairing, street lights and slab covering

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation today had a meeting for the successful celebration of coming Durga Puja. Plans chalked out for repairing of pot holes, repairing drive for street lights and special sanitation drives in each and every ward.

A special budget of Rs. 5 lakhs have been sanctioned for repairing of pot holes and roads in all the 67 wards before Durga Puja.

Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena instructed the incharge of electrical section of BMC to take a special drive for expediting repairing of street lights. There are 35 thousand LED street lights in the city and more 6 thousand lights are in the pipe line of being installation.

Letter to PWD for Bomikhal Fly over area:

The cracked fly over at Bomikhal is creating problem for the public as the demolished parts have occupied space. Mayor said that BMC will write to the PWD department for clearance of the debris. It may be noted that a big Puja Mandap is near to the sensitive site of fly over. Along the fly over Bomikhal puja committee installs illuminated lights during puja.

Temporary ponds with large space

This year total 4 nos of temporary ponds shall be constructed for idol immersion. Two numbers on the river bank of Kuakhai towards cuttack each one near Tankapani Sai temple and Daya towards Puri. This year the size of ponds shall be larger than previous year. BMC has decided to provide light at the immersion sites.

 

Mayor also instructed the enviroment engineer to take steps for cutting of tree branched which are creating obstacle for street lights. BMC will take help of city forest office in this issue.

The special puja preparatory meeting attended by all the chairman of standing committees, Adl. Commisioner Alok Kar, Chief Finance Officer, ZDC North and South East, City Engineer and BMC officers.
