Odisha Block Grant teachers to join duty from today

Bhubaneswar: The Block Grant teachers, who are on agitation under the banner of the Odisha School and College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum demanding fulfilment of their demands, have decided to join duty from today.

However, they would continue their agitation on a rotation basis at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in the State capital. Those conducting classes at schools would wear black badges until their demands are met.

He further said that the forum has decided to organise a 12-hour strike on October 2 in front of district Collectorates. Later, all teachers would gather again on October 9 at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg for a ‘Shiksha Banchao, Odisha Banchao’ rally.
It should be noted that the teachers are on agitation since August 16 seeking benefits of the 7th Pay Commission, better service conditiond and job regularisation, among others, under the new Grant-in-Aid (GIA) system. They had also stopped conducting classes in schools from September 6.
