Odisha-based Asian Institute of Public Health announces new National and International Scholarships

Bhubaneswar: Students, faculty, and several board members of AIPH were present today in a ceremony welcoming the new students starting this academic year. Prof. A. P. Dash, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Tamil Nadu, Prof. Omkar Nath Mohanty, former vice chancellor of BPUT, Prof. Madhab C Das, former Vice Chancellor of Sambalpur University, and Mr. Rameshram Mishra, former Addl Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu were among the dignitaries attending the function. Dr. S. K. Dash, Chairman of Dr. Dash Foundation, USA, was the Chief Guest. Apart from the 10th batch of MPH (Master in Public Health), the only such degree programme in Odisha, second batch of MSc Applied Microbiology, and in other new disciplines including those in MSc Life Sciences took part in the ceremony as their seniors welcomed them into the AIPH fraternity.

 

Prof. Pinaki Panigrahi announced two new scholarship programs for students of AIPH sponsored by Dr. Dash foundation. The first will pay full expense for an International Fellowship at University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA, for two students conducting research in their respective domains under the guidance of American professors. The second fellowship will cover expenses for five students selected to conduct rotating internship in various cancer departments at the National Cancer Institute-AIIMS, Delhi to enable them complete their required Capstone Research in an area of cancer epidemiology and prevention. This unique opportunity will prepare students to become independent specialists as they graduate from various departments, said Dr. Pinaki Panigrahi, Secretay, AIPH.

 

In the past, several AIPH students have gone to USA and other foreign countries with financial assistance to pursue their higher studies. The new fellowships will enable many more every year to receive high-end training overseas and build their career. Didactic teaching by nationally known faculty, and American professors (Prof. Leslie Elliott in the current semester) and practical hands-on training at its field, and hospital sites has enabled AIPH students maintain a 100% job placement record since inception of its degree programs in 2010.
