Bhubaneswar: More than 200 families from India’s Odisha state residing afar all over Saudi Arabia celebrated Odisha Day with cultural programs in Dammam, KSA last week.
The Odisha Association of Saudi Arabia, Kalingan – KSA, organized the Annual Function 2018 – Utkal Divas Celebrations on 13th April, 2018. The event was started with performance of the iconic Odia patriotic song ‘Bande Utkala Janani’, continued by Mangalacharana by Ms. Sara Sheikh.
Famous Odia Industrialist Bhumiputra Dr. Deb Mohanty joined the program as Chief guest, and Ollywood Star Mr. Amlan Das graced the occasion as Guest of Honor.
The event featured Odisha’s dance, music, handicrafts, fashion and food. The cultural event comprised of performances by Odia children, men and women on various Odia, Sambalpuri and Bollywood songs.
The coordinators Mr. Santosh Das, Mr. Sarafat Sheikh, Mr Jyotirmay Dash mentioned that, their objective is to spread the magic of Odia culture on this foreign land and hope this effort will contribute to enhanced interest in Odisha and will ultimately contribute in some way towards its development of the state. Also to keep the bonding alive amongst all Odias, living in foreign land far from their home state.
