Odisha Administration geared up for relief measures after flash flood in Rayagada, Kalahandi districts

Bhubaneswar: Due to heavy rainfall during last two days in Rayagada and Kalahandi districts, flash flood came in River Nagabali, Kalyani and Hati since 16.7.2017.
A review meeting was taken by Special Relief Commissioner on 17.7.2017 with different departments on measures taken to ameliorate the sufferings of flood victims.
Rayagada District:
More than 28,000 people in 50 villages under Rayagada Block and 20 villages under Kalyansinghpur Block have been affected. 5 persons have been injured due to wall collapse in Rayagada district. They are under medical treatment in CHC, Padmapur, Rayagada. The injured are: Sunil Lima(28), Jamuna Lima(25), Mohit Luma(2months), Gouri Behera(45), Tanushree Lima(4). Extensive damage has occurred to four PWD and other roads.
Rescue and relief measures:
ODRAF, Fire Services, CRPF and NDRF have been engaged in relief and rescue operation. All persons who were trapped due to floods have in the mean time been rescued. About 4000 people have been evacuated and lodged in 15 temporary shelters where cooked food is being provided to them at free kitchen centers. Emergent relief in shape of rice (Q.180), Dal (Q.29.00), Chuda (Q71.30), Gur (Q.13.6), biscuit (170 Cartons), Candles (4120 Nos.) and Match Box 8400 (Nos.) has been provided to 5166 beneficiaries by the district administration. 828 food packets have been airdropped by Naval helicopter. Besides, 4000 food packets have been distributed to affected people.
10 health camps in Rayagada block and 5 health camps in Kalyansinghpur block have been opened. Doctors and Paramedical staffs are engaged in service. Four water tankers have been engaged in K Singhpur Block. 7000 water pouches have also been distributed. Ten drinking water sources have been disinfected. Five Mobile Veterinary Units have been mobilized. All schools of Kalyansinghpur, Rayagada and Kasipur Blocks have been closed for 3 days.
