Odisha: 6 criminals get 6 year RI in an encounter case in Jagatsinghpur

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: Chief Judicial Magistrate Court [CJM] here awarded 3 years Rigorous Imprisonment [RI] along with fine Rs 2000 each to six criminals found guilty in an encounter case occurred in Chadheigaon village three years ago. Moreover In default paying the fine another two months RI awarded against the accused men the court conditioned while delivering its judgement on Wednesday. Report said that acting on a tip off police had raided a primary school on the outskirts of Chadheigaon village where few criminals had converged for committing a crime, on arrival of police the criminals started fleeing and exchanged of fire occurred between police and criminals as result two criminals named as Rajendra Prasad Rout from Chauliaganja in Cuttack and Prafulla Khandayatray a resident of Purunagada village here got injured and shifted to hospital for treatment. Basing on injured criminals information’s police had arrested another four criminals Ratiranjan Mohapatra, Girija Das, Sudhakar Nayak and Rahul jotek subsequently from separate locations and recovered a pistol, a four wheeler and a bike allegedly used for the crime. The trail of the case had taken up in CJM court here, basing on prosecution evidences and witnesses CJM Ramakrushna Choudhury found the accused criminals guilty and awarded the punishment.
