Odias at Kolkata Welfare Association announces its forthcoming annual day “Vande Utkal Janani-2018”

Kolkata : Odias at Kolkata Welfare Association, popularly known as OAK today announces its forthcoming annual event “Vande Utkal Janani-2018” by organizing a Talent Hunt Competition among the kids and couples staying in Kolkata.

Speaking on the forthcoming mega annual event “Vande Utkal Janani 2018”, Pradeep Mohapatra Secretary, OAK said “OAK started its journey 4 years back with a small Whatsapp group having 10 members only and now we have more than 600 members from different field staying in and around Kolkata. Since last 3 years we are organizing our annual programme “Vande Utkal janani” to celebrate the foundation day of Odisha. As we are a grown up organization now so this year we have decided to celebrate our annual day at Science City Auditorium on 15th April 2018 (Sunday) in a much better and bigger way. This year we are having the India’s Raw Star -2014 winner, Bollywood singer from Odisha Rituraj Mohanty and popular Odia singer Ashima Panda as our lead singer. We are also showcasing cultural heritage of Odisha on the soils of Kolkata. World famous Double Conch and Ranapa Fold dance troupe have been invited to perform.

To begin with a Talent Hunt competition was organised at Satyajit Ray Film Institute which witnessed the participation of more than 100 kids and many couples. The kids participated in competition like Singing, Drawing, Dance, etc and couples participated in best looking couple competition in presence of eminent judges from respective field.

 

Speaking on this occasion Guru Prasad Pattanaik, President OAK explained the concept of VUJ “This function of OAK is held to remember the foundation day of Odisha after it was carved out of the combined Bengal-Bihar-Orissa province and became a separate state on 1st of April 1936. The entire OAK collective in Kolkata on this day pay tributes to the legends and renowned personalities who fought for Odisha.

Ms Hasita Pattnaik, President Ladies Wing of OAK said, This year the ladies wing of Oak has taken the full responsibilities of today’s Talent Hunt Competition and other cultural activities. There will be a dance performance by kids on Vande Utkal Janani, Odishi Dance by Girls and Dance performance by ladies members. The audience certainly enjoyed the programme and we are quite confident about the grand success of our annual event i.e Vande Utkala Janani 2018.”

Under the able leadership of Santwana Pattnaik the event was well organised by Sasmita Malik, Suvashree Mohapatra, Suvashree Swain, Kabita Panda, Priyadarshini Mishra, Rajalakshmi Swain, Barnali Dasmohapatra, Debasmita Dash, Julie Mishra, Jyotshna Pradhan, Deepti Mishra, Chandana Das, Niharika Das, Pranita sahoo, Gayatri Pattnaik.
