‘OCL India receives a humungous ‘Yes’ from the local public for proposed expansion of the cement grinding unit at West Bengal’

Kolkata: Marking a significant development, OCL India Ltd (BSE: 502165 | NSE: OCL), the flagship associate company of Dalmia Cement Bharat Ltdtoday attaineda huge mass support from the local populationfor its proposed capacity expansion of the existing cement grinding unit at Godapiasal Industrial Park, Salboni, West Midnapore, West Bengal.The Company proposes to optimise the capacity of the existing grinding unit from current 1.35 million tons per annum (MTPA) to 1.75 MTPA in Phase I and thereafter add fresh capacity of 2.25 MTPA in Phase II, taking total installed capacity of the unit to 4.0 MTPA with an investment outlay of Rs. 250 Crs. The nod achieved by the company at the Public Hearing conducted today by State Pollution Control Board signifies full compliance by the Company to the specific point stipulations of ‘Terms of Reference’ (ToR) towards Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as prescribed by Ministry of Environment & Forest (MoEF). This public approval pushes OCL India a step closer to attain the final Environmental Clearance and execute its capacity enhancement programme.

The public hearing today witnessed a strong 500 people and public leaders asserting consent to the expansion plan of the company in presence of key dignitaries identified by the Pollution Control Board to oversee the proceedings including Shri S K Meena, Additional District Magistrate – West Midnapore, Smt. Uttara Singh, Zilla-Parisad Sabhadhipati, Shri Pushpal Sarkar, Block Development Officer, Salboni, Shri Nepal Singh, Panchayat Samiti Sabhapati and many other noted public figures. The people expressed confidence in the fact that the Company will comply to all measures and monitoring mechanism as prescribed by West Bengal Pollution Control Board with the plant operating within the permissible limits of given pollution parameters.
