Kaniha: 84 th Utkal Diwas was celebrated at Talcher Kaniha by Utkal Diwas Celebration Committee, NTPC Kaniha on April 1, 2019. The event was celebrated in the memory of the formation of the Odisha state as a separate state on April 1,1936.
Chief Guest ,Shri Ramesh Babu ,Group General Manager (GGM), NTPC Kaniha and Chief Speaker Dr Bhabani Sankar Mishra ,President ,Gandhi Adyan & Samaj Bikash Kendra ,Dhenkanal inaugurated the event by lighting the lamps, followed by flower tribute to legendary personalities of Odisha.The welcome address was given by Shri S S Pradhan, Secretray,Utkal Diwas Celebration Committee.
On the occasion Chief Guest GGM, Shri Ramesh in his address conveyed good wishes to all employees on Utkal Diwas .He mentioned the importance of great leaders of Odisha and their contribution towards formation of Odisha state. He said Odisha is known for its variant culture and rich heritage. On the occasion he said “Lord Jagannath” has given an opportunity to serve in Odisha.
Chief Speaker, Dr Bhabani Sankar Mishra in his address briefed the contribution of eminent personalities of Odisha like Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das, Utkala mani Gopabandhu Das in making the state independent and how the state was formed based on odia language.
He added Odia people have the tremendous capabilities & talent which can make contribution to development of Odia language & economic development. OdiaS are known for their flexibility in adopting to other culture.
On the occasion to make the day memorable, paintings done by employees and housewives are displayed for public display at Recreation Centre. In addition , artwork depicting Odisha ‘s famous temple , dance form are created by employee Shri Anil Kant Pradhan was too showcased to make the day special.
Further t to celebrate the day, various cultural programme e.g traditional form of dance like Gotipo ,Chou ,Odishi were performed by artists.Prior to Utkal Diwas various competitions like debate ,sloka , pitha, fancy dress ,mono act & jhuti competition etc were organised.The competitions were participated in huge numbers by employees and their family members. The winners were felicitated on the occasion to conclude the celebration.
Shri N S Rao ,GM(O&M), Shri B Maharana ,GM(Maintenance) , Shri K K Das ,GM(FM) ,Shri Nabin Bagai , GM(SSC,C&M) Deepti Kuber,members of Tanvi Sangam ,along with senior officials and representatives of union and association were also present.
