Minister Pratap Jena directs officials to chalk out Integrated Market Plan for promoting rural artisans

Bhubaneswar: Minister for Panchayati Raj and Water Resources Pratap Jena has opted for chalking out an Integrated Market Plan for rural producers and artisans.

He has directed the officials in this regard as it would enable access of rural producers and artisans to international markets. Jena has directed the officials during a review meeting of Odisha Rural Development And Marketing Society (ORMAS) and Odisha Livelihood Mission on Wednesday.

The government has decided to tie up ORMAS and Odisha Livelihood Mission with renowned companies to boost marketing of products of rural growers and artisans so that they can get a better price for their commodities. ORMAS has already been tied up with Dabur India, Mother Dairy and ITC to market turmeric, honey and incense sticks. The minister emphasized on the proper implementation of rural skill development programmes through Deendayal Upadhyaya rural skill development programme.

Minister Jena reviewed last year’s performance and this year’s action plan of Odisha Livelihood Mission. During the review meeting, it was learnt the last year’s budget for the Mission was Rs 294.63 crore. It was also revealed that Rs 342.51 crore was spent by the government for proper implementation of all activities of the livelihood mission. The minister stressed upon proper implementation of projects within the stipulated time and said the Central aid received on this score must be thoroughly reviewed.
