MCL celebrates I-Day with cultural fervor, gaiety

Sambalpur: 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with much cultural fervor and gaiety at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), with hoisting of the Tricolour by Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Mr BN Shukla here at Anand Vihar Grounds.
After hoisting the Tricolour, the CMD inspected the parade and took salute of smartly marching contingents of the MCL Security, NCC, Scouts and Guides and schools of Sambalpur.
In his Independence Day message, Mr Shukla congratulated everyone on 73rd Independence Day and emphasised on the values of unity among the citizens of the country.
“Keeping our culture, civilization and solidarity intact, we can wave our glory in the world” the CMD said, reiterating contribution of the company in energy security of the nation.
Meanwhile, the participating schools of Sambalpur presented an impressive cultural programme on the theme of independence, which was appreciated by one and all.
Mrs Manjula Shukla, president Jagriti Mahila Mandal along with vice-presidents Ms Naushina Afrin Ali, Ms Padamja Singh and Ms Padmini Vasudevan and Ms Madhoo Mishra presented awards to the best marching contingents and the winners of cultural programme.
Mr Munawar Khursheed, IRPF, CVO, Mr OP Singh, Director (Technical/ Operations) and Mr KR Vasudevan, Director (Finance/Personnel) also joined the CMD for the presentation of prizes.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Goshala won first prize in the category of NCC marching contingent, while Scouts of Government Boys’ High School, Burla and Guides of MCL DAV Public School, Burla also won first prizes in their category.
Among others, St Joseph Convent High Schools in Girls category and Sr Satyasai Kiddies Abode, Burla won the first prize for march past.
Special prizes were given to the DAV School, Burla and the Laadali girls of Jagriti Mahila Mandal for their special performance on the occasion.
