Make in Odisha Conclave 2018 unveiled state as destination for the IT an electronic industry

Bhubaneswar: The investment summit, Make in Odisha Conclave 2018, has unveiled the state as the global as well as the domestic destination for the IT an electronic industry.

Chandra Sarathi Behera, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology said: “Electronics and IT are the fastest growing segments of Indian Industry. The state proudly houses the top five IT firms in the country and has the maximum number of STPIs. The state government is committed to taking all the measures to build Bhubaneswar as the leading IT hub of the country.”

The minister disclosed that the state government, with a partnership with Oracle India, will be setting up an Oracle Academy in Bhubaneswar soon. C.J. Venugopal, Principal Secretary, Electronics and Information Technology Department, in his address said IT sector has become imperative for the state. Venugopal said the growth rate in IT is 15 per cent. The state has one of the lowest attrition rates in the country; he said and added that an MoU was signed with the University of Chicago. Bhubaneswar will have a fabrication lab in collaboration with Fab Foundation, he said.

Participants in the Conclave expressed the view that Odisha has huge untapped opportunities and it can benefit by making appropriate policy changes and creation of infrastructures. Make in Odisha Conclave has successfully laid the path for achieving the goal, they observed.

Rajesh Ram Mishra informed the gathering that Odisha supplies 5% of the country’s engineers and it is home to 2.5% of the startups in the country. The total investments received in the Conclave by the departments were to the tune of orders of Rs 3900 crore from 6 companies.
