Bhubaneswar: Shree Sai Niketan Trust (SSNT), working towards the welfare of children, women and economically weaker sections of the society organised KWIZ-bel 2018 by WOOD-APPLE School, an open quiz competition for city based school students.  KWIZ-bel 2018, the 3rd edition was organised for special children at Chandrasekharpur DAV Public School recently. The main objective of this open quiz competition was to spread awareness among the students about the special child in the society.

Trustees Ms. Rita Baliarsingh and Shanta Baliarsingh had shared their views by saying that, “KWIZ-bel is a small attempt to make the people aware of the importance of children with special needs.”

The winners were awarded with Trophies, certificates and cash prizes by Director, Tourism Dr. Nitin B. Jawale. While DAV Public School, Pokhariput emerged 1st, Mother’s Public School and DAV Public School, Unit-8 emerged as 2nd and 3rd winners respectively in the quiz competition.

SSNT has ventured out for a school for special children (as mentioned as Divyaang by our Hon’ble Prime Minister), named as WOOD-APPLE, at Bhubaneswar in 2016.  WOOD-APPLE’s objective is to reach out to the special needs of visually impaired, hearing impaired, mentally challenged autism, cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities children. WOOD-APPLE has developed specially designed instructions and has made modifications in the educational program, such as curriculum and teaching methods, which is required for every single special child uniquely. Further, WOOD APPLE is working towards reaching out to the deprived slum children for addressing the cause. Apart from this, WOOD-APPLE aims to impart special classes for school going children and create livelihood through vocational training courses.

It may be noted here that, Shree Sai Niketan Trust (SSNT), established in the year 2012 has successfully conducted programs for sanitation, women empowerment, AIDS awareness, safety awareness and several competitions, cultural activities & camps for deprived children, from slums & orphanage.
