A ‘Khadan Bhetghat’ with CMD spreads new energy among coal miners of MCL in Ib Coalfields

Sambalpur: Mr R R Mishra, Chiarman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) visited remotely-located Garjanbahal OCP of Basundhara Area, Lakhanpur OCP of Lakhanpur Area and Samleshwari OCP of Ib Valley Area in Ib Coalfields and participated in “Khadan Bhetghat’ with colleague workers.

‘Khadan Bhetghat’ (meaning a get-together in local language) at coal mine projects, which was initiated yesterday by the CMD, provided a unique common platform to the MCL and contractors’ workers engaged in coal mining to sit together irrespective of their ranks and positions and discuss for finding amicable solutions to common issues of interest.

“Many issues can be addressed easily when we contribute together,” said the CMD, as coal miners came up with various solutions to make convenient their day-to-day work life and contribute maximum for the growth of the company.

Mr Mishra appreciated the project Teams for their achievements during the previous financial year. He also felicitated the best performers of project Areas.

The workers were happily surprised to find their CMD in their for place. “I am overwhelmed…I had never thought of receiving honours while working in the coal mines, and that also from the CMD of the company,” said Mr Nehru Nayak, Mining Sirdar, who was working at Garjanbahal OCP, Basundhara Area.

Mr Govind Krishan, Dumper Operator, GOCP added: “the visit of CMD in this afternoon during summer motivates me to work even harder and I’m sure we will again beat our target”.

Mr Dashrathi, Dumper Operator, Lakhanpur OCP, who was also felicitated for his distinguished contribution, said discussing with CMD and Directors about various issues was a unique feeling. “It’s (Khadan Bhetghat) really motivating, because it gave a feeling of being a member of a team, which is working together to make ways for success” he said.

The General Managers and Project Officers at respective locations also briefed the CMD about their plans for mining and over burden removal.

“No target is big, when your basics are in place,” Mr Mishra said, emphasising on the need increasing happiness quotation at work place.

The CMD was accompanied by Mr OP Singh, Director (Technical-Operations / Projects & Planning) and Mr LN Mishra, Senior Advisor.

MCL is the second largest coal producing arm of Coal India Limited having mining operations in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda and Angul districts of Odisha.
