JSPL’s Unit Head Suresha G bags ‘Best Corporate Leader-2017’

Bhubaneswar: Executive Vice President and Unit Head of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL)’s Barbil Unit, Shri Suresha G has been awarded ‘Best Corporate Leader-2017’ for his contribution to the industrial development of Odisha. He received the award from Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister Shri Surya Narayan Patro in a ceremony organised by Odisha Cultural Foundation (OCF) here on Sunday.

Receiving the award Shri Suresha said, “I am delighted to receive the award and thankful to all my colleagues and friends for supporting me in every step. We truly believe we have set up JSPL as a company with a culture and a set of principles that will allow us to tackle our next set of challenges as we look to 2018 and beyond.”

Shri Suresha who hails from Karnataka is currently heading the company’s 9MTPA pellet plant at Barbil, which is the largest pelletisation complex in India. For excellence in best practice in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), the plant has been awarded with TPM excellence category “A” award by Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM), Japan. Under his leadership, to name a few, the company has won Golden Bird Safety Award in Platinum category from Foundation of Accelerated Mass Empowerment (FAME), India for best environmental practices and implementing workplace safety norms.

Shri Suresha holds an Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Malnad College of Engineering, Karnataka. Besides, he has a Management degree in Operation Management to his credit. Since his joining in JSPL in 2012, he has been instrumental in driving the company’s growth through implementation of new policies and strategic initiatives. Under the able leadership of Shri Suresha the company has been implementing multidimensional sustainable social development programmes in the avenues of quality mass education, community healthcare and promotion of rural and ethnic sports. This has been resulting in holistic development in quality of life of the local community.

Among other dignitaries Shri SK Tamotia, Ex-CMD, Nalco; Shri Suresh Chandra Mantry, retired IAS and chief co-ordinator of Odia daily -The Samaja; Shri Surendra Nath Tripathy, eminent writer and Shri Guru Tripathy, managing trustee of OCF were present on the occasion.

This is the 3rd ‘Corporate Excellence Award’ programme being organised by OCF in association with Hindi daily Nava Bharat. This award recognizes various companies and industry leaders for their contribution of business and industry in Odisha. During the programme, various companies were presented with excellence award for their achievements and contribution to their respective industry/sector.
