Jagatsinghpur Scribes body holds rally opposing media restriction, submits memo to Odisha Governor.

Report by Kahnu Nanda, Jagatsinghpur: The working scribes and media persons staged a rally at the district headquarters on Monday opposing state government restriction giving official information’s to journalists by its representative and departmental head pleading violation of service rules. Later they submitted a memorandum to state governor through district collector.
Report said that state government’s general administration and public grievance department in its letter number Misc 0008-2016-13958 /AIS dated June 29, 2017 has instructed officials restricting them not giving any opinion and views on media query. Even government Babus have been constrained writing any article or opinion in media. The letter has cited that it violates service conduct rule 1959 section 7, All India secretary conduct rule 1969 and ASI conduct rule 1968 section 6. The special secretary to PG department recently has directed officials to act with the order.
Armed with the state government instruction official Babus have been skipping media persons query and expressing their inability giving any information’s, as result it is become attack on press for free discharging its duty and obligation and an attempt is being made to curtail the media freedom, so we demand immediate withdrawal of this media restriction, scribes body petitioned state governor.
