Infosys organises `Women in Technology’ event in Infocity campus

Bhubaneswar: With the Indian IT Industry marching ahead into the Digital Era, coupled with continuous improvements and innovations, there has been a constant focus on increasing diversity footprint in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) areas. Blending technology and the diversity dimension, Infosys Bhubaneswar organized a full-day ‘Women in Technology’ event today at the Infocity campus as a precursor to the celebration of International Women’s Day, 2019.

The Infosys Leadership and the Diversity and Inclusivity team continually strives to provide a platform for women across the organization / industry to exchange ideas, learn about the new disruptive trends affecting the industry and our preparedness to navigate through it and deliberate on the challenges faced by women in the industry.

As part of the International Women’s Day celebration of 2019, an Inter-Location Technical Road Show cum contest “Mavens and Mavericks” was organized. There were 11 teams travelling from various Infosys locations to participate in the event and showcase their technical solutions and the business problems solved. There were 30 participants filtered from major industry verticals – Financial Services, Insurance, Manufacturing, Retail and Energy and Utilities – with participation cutting across practice lines. The participants enthusiastically demonstrated innovative solutions around Cloud, Machine Learning, Chat Bots, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), Image Search in e-Commerce, Alexa Smart Speaker etc. and fought it out among themselves for the coveted prizes.

The Roadshow was inaugurated by Infosys Bhubaneswar Centre Head and AVP, Prabhat Kumar Das, who welcomed the team to the event. Senior members from the Development Centre Debasis Tripathy, Principal Technology Architect, Mousumi Mishra, Group Project Manager, Rashmi Vishwakarma, AVP and Senior Group Manager and Subhankar Paul, Delivery Manager evaluated each solution and declared the winners.

In parallel, a National HRD Network, Bhubaneswar Chapter event titled ‘WPOWER 2019’ was organized on the sidelines. Close to 85 participants from different organizations participated in this one-day workshop, which was based on the International Women’s Day theme of ‘Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change’. The event was a grand success and it helped create the mandate for an ecosystem that fosters innovation for change by building smart solutions on a diverse platform.
