 Can you briefly explain why Orissa remains poor though getting funds from the centre and state?
Because we are neglecting some potential sectors, which can give best return to us. We are not giving priority to those sectors which will generate more employment opportunity, eradicate poverty and strengthen our purchasing power for last three to four decades. That is agriculture and allied sectors, Handloom handicrafts and other sectors. We have not designed our budget in meaningful one for last 3 to 4 decades. Only little attention has given to these sectors. But we want total five years plans and more attention for this. After this I am sure a mega change will be seen in Orissa and Orissa will be the one of the best states in our country.
What major policies should be taken by the government for solution of rehabilitation and resettlement?
First the government should sit with the displaced people and with the host people. Actually there should be cohesiveness between the host people and the displaced people .If the displaced people like some areas and the host people will not accepted this then another crisis will arise.
Second their life style should not immediately change by giving our money. No doubt we will re settle them properly but they are not habituated to expense the money. So we have to create similar atmosphere for them. Third employment and assistance should be given by the company to the displaced people.
And friendly atmosphere should be created like industrial friendly and government friendly with the displaced people. This above things should be done for this problem.
How do you feel the government should tackle the Naxal problems?
First we should understand what are their demands and what they want. They are demanding for land rights, better infrastructure, social security, economic security, old age security and health security property security. So first these sectors should be given attention by the government. I think the government has already started its work over this area and I hope in coming time Orissa will be succeed to curb this Naxal problems.
