Bhubaneswar: new India head of DFID – UK Department for International Development, Mr Gavin Gillivray met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Both had very fruitful discussions on extending cooperation on various priority areas like governance reforms, urban infrastructure and services, water, energy, skill development, climate resilience strategies, etc.
CM Naveen Patnaik appreciated the role of DFID in states fiscal stabilization through public sector reforms programme and its support to interventions in health, education and livelihood sectors. The Odisha Modernising Economy, Government and Administration (OMEGA initiative) has significantly improved public service delivery. Mr Gavin expressed willingness to carry forward the partnership by DFID in priority areas.
