IMFA Mines Awarded in 1st All India Under Ground Mines Safety, Cleanliness and silicosis Awareness Week-2018

Report by Akshya Rout, Jajpur: Under the ageis of DGMS 1st all India underground metal mines safety,cleanliness & Silicosis awareness week- 2018 celebration concluded on 16th Dec’2018 at Dariba,Udaypur, Rajasthan. The celebration was hosted at Zawar Mines of Hinustan zinc Ltd.,Udaypur,Rajasthan. On this concluding day occasion P K Sarkar Director General Mines Safety, Govt of India lightened the candle in presence of guests such as Sunil Duggal,CEO & Director Hinusthan Zinc Ltd.,Sanjeev Das, Sr Vice President & Head Mines IMFA,U M Sankar Das,President Hindustan Zinc worker’s union and other dignitary guests.

Sarkar addressed the gathering of 42 under ground metal mines representatives from all over india saying that Awareness only prevent the accident, Workers also to be equally responsible for maitaining safety, Science has to play a vital role in coming day in mining safety, More serious discussion to be held on preventing Silicosis disease, Diesel is the main issue in under ground mines, Zero accident should be all mines owners’ objective etc.

IMFA bagged 2nd prize in occupational health,safety and 3rd prize on Cleanliness campaign. On 15th December Trade test was conducted between 42 underground mines at Zawar mines of Hindustan Zinc Ltd. Imfa underground mines workers got prizes in 8 nos. different category. Mahagiri Underground mines Manager Lalatendu Mahapatra,Electrical Department incharge Mihir Mishra-DGM, Mechanical Senior Engineer Soumyakant Nag were selecited as inspection team members. CEO & Director of Hindustan Zinc Ltd. Sunil Duggal handed over flag to Sanjeev Das,Mining Head imfa to conduct all india underground metal mines safety,Cleanness & Silicosis awareness week in 2019. On behalf of IMFA Dhiraj Pandey,Sr.safety officer and Debasis Samal Sr.personnel officer also participated in the programme. The achievement of Mahagiri Under round Mines of IMFA has brought Glory to Odisha mining sector.
