IIMC, Dhenkanal to orgasnize National Seminar and Film Appreciation Workshop as its Silver Jubilee Celebration Initiative

Dhenkanal: As part of its Silver Jubilee Celebration Initiative, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Dhenkanal is organizing a string of cinema related events titled ‘Filmi Chakkar’ here from 14-16 January 2018.

On 14 January, a National Seminar on Cinema titled ‘Indian Cinema: Through the Prism of Reality’ will be organized, followed by a two-day Film Appreciation Workshop on 15 – 16 January. The workshop will be curated and conducted by National Film Award winning critic and film scholar Dr. Piyush Roy. Besides, there will be screening of feature and documentary films and an exhibition of Film Magazines, curated by well-known cinema researcher Sri Surya Deo.
The Seminar is divided in two parts. In part one; the focus will be on ‘Partition Films in Indian Subcontinent ‘while the second part will focus on ‘The Process of Engagement with Reality’. Each part will have two plenary addresses, and three paper presentations.

Every evening, there will screenings of films- Indian and foreign, feature films and documentaries. There will also be an exhibition of film magazines down the ages curated by Sri Surya Deo.
Those who are interested to participate in the seminar will have to send extended abstracts in about 1000 words as a Word attachment with the subject ‘Paper for Seminar on Cinema’ to iimcdkl25@gmail.com. Three papers on each theme will be selected for oral presentation at the seminar by a process of blind peer review. Last day for submission of full paper will be December 31, 2017.
