Dhenkanal: Remembering former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a condolence meeting was organized at Indian Mass CommunicationCommunications (IIMC) Dhenkanal here on Friday. Owing to the national mourning announced in his honor, the 26th foundation day celebrations of the Institute was canceled. Regional Director of the Institute Dr. Mrinal Chatterjee, senior journalist Urmilesh and Professor Dr. Bhavani Shankar Mishra were present at the event. Students and faculty members, present at the occasion, remembered the life and philosophy of the former PM. Some of them even recited his poetries. At the end of the session, the participants kept two minutes silence and prayed for the departed soul.
After the condolence meeting, Dr. Mishra gave a lecture on the mass movements in India and the role of media in them. The prize distribution and cultural programmes stood canceled.
Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Dhenkanal was established in August 1993. It offers Postgraduate Diploma courses in Journalism in English and Oriya. Every year the institute celebrates its Foundation Day on 17th November
