Bhubaneswar: The Pioneer of Hotel & Hospitality industry in Odisha Sri J K Mohanty, CMD Swosti Group, has been nominated to receive the most prestigious “Odisha Living Legend Awards (Enterpreneurship) 2018 on 16th November 2018”
With just Rs.1.00 lakh as seed capital Mr. Mohanty started off his journey as a hospitality entrepreneur in 1984 and has been able to expand his hotel empire into an organization that employs around 1200 employees today. He has set a remarkable example for future entrepreneurs of Odisha by putting up Swosti Grand, a choicest boutique hotel in the temple city, Swosti Premium, the Largest Convention venue in Eastern India, Gopalpur Palm Resort the only Luxury Resort at Gopalpur-on-Sea and recently opened World Class Luxury Eco Resort ‘Swosti Chilika Resort’ situated at the banks of Chilika Lagoon. Apart from this Swosti Group has also entered into Hospitality Management Education sector in the name of Swosti Institute of Management & Social Studies (SIMSS) and also operating a pioneer Inbound / outbound Tour Operator ‘Swosti Travels’ approved & Recognized by Dept. of Tourism, Govt. of India, since 1986 and has been leading player in the tourism industry in India equipped with experienced professionals to look after guest’s need and comfort.
Apart from his contribution to the hotel industry, as Chairman of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Odisha and Chairman Eastern Region of Indian Association of Tour Operators, he has strived hard in close cooperation with the State Government to boost the tourism sector of the State by organizing many national level workshops / conclaves / seminars regularly jointly with State Tourism Department and inviting renowned experts and expertise in the field of tourism and hospitality sector. Various recommendations / suggestions for the growth of hospitality and tourism sector have been submitted to the Government for implementation. Not only in Odisha and India, he is the man who alone promoted Odisha in global market by conducting roadshows in many European countries. Under his dynamic initiative and leadership the Puri Beach Festival started in the year 1992 which has now become an International Festival.
