Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Reduces VAT on Petrol and Diesel

Report by Vijyender Sharma; Shimla: In order to give relief to the people from rising petrol and diesel prices the cabinet in its meeting held here today decided to reduce VAT on Petrol and diesel by one percent from existing tax rate. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh presided over the meeting.
The cabinet decided suitable amendment in HP ceiling on Land Holding act to enable such religious institutions as have obtained exemption from the ceiling limit to dispose off their surplus land by way of sale, gift or any other means, subject to the condition that such transfer would be only in the favour of an agriculturist as defined in the HP Tenancy and Law reforms Act.
In order to provide a range of Health Care services for people in remote, un-served and underserved areas of the State, decided to operate Mobile Medical Units in 10 districts, except Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti, under National Health Mission (NHM).
A decision was also taken to start two Bike Ambulances in Shimla town under National Ambulance Service (108) on trial basis to reduce the response of time emergencies.
The Cabinet decided to make functional the State Human Rights Commission exclusively for Himachal Pradesh and fill up the post of Chairman and Member of the Commission. Justice (Retd) Jagdish Bhalla’s name is recommended for Chairperson of the Commission and K.S Tomar, a retired Chairman from HP Public Service Commission, as the member. The consent has been obtained from the Governor in this regard.
Decision was taken to declare Rampuri fair in district Shimla as district level fair.
It was also decided to declare Haroli utsav in Una as district level fair.
Health Sector
Decision was also taken to upgrade CHC Ghawandal in Naina-Devi to 50 bed hospital.
It was decided to upgrade PHC Lanj to CHC in Shahpur constituency.

The Cabinet accorded approval to open a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Lohara (Channi Devi) in Una district along-with creation of three posts.
It gave its nod to open Health Sub Centre (HSC) in Gram Panchayat Shilhi, in Banjar (Kullu) along with creation of two posts.
Cabinet gave nod for opening HSC in Luhnu Kaneta and Baloh villages in GP Dhoun Kothi in Bilaspur district along with requisite posts.
Decision was taken to up-grade HSC Bartu in GP seema (Rantari) in Rohroo to PHC along with creation of three posts.
It also decided to upgrade HSC Baga in GP Mangal to PHC in Solan district along with necessary posts
The Cabinet decided to open a new Ayurveda Health Centre (AHC) in Village Khamadi in GP Khamadi in Rampur tehsil.
The Cabinet approved to create and fill the following posts
The Cabinet approved to fill one post of sub-editor in department of Information and Public Relations.
Decision was taken to fill up four posts of steno-typists in Information and Public Relations department.
Nod was given to create one post of Registrar in High Court Registry.
It decided to create one post of Panchayat inspector in Panchayati Raj department.
Approval was given to create and fill up one post each of Treasury officers in six remaining districts.
Other Decisions
Decision was taken to open Sub-treasury at Darlaghat in Solan district and create five posts in Treasury, Accounts and Lottery department.
It was also decided to upgrade numerous Primary, Middle and High schools in Mandi and Kullu districts to fulfill the announcements of the Chief minister.
It was decided to construct additional accommodation of PWD Rest house Jawali in district kangra.
The cabinet accorded approval for construction of New PWD guest house at Delath in Rampur in district Shimla.
It was decided to open Police Station at Syri in Arki
It was decided to upgrade Police Chowki Baldwara to Police Station in tehsil Sarkhaghat
Decision was taken to open a PWD sub-Division at Bhadrota in Sarkaghat.
