HAL ST/SC Emloyees And Officers Association Celebrated 126th Birth Anniversary Of Babsaheab Ambedkar

Report by Nishapati Nayak, Sunabeda: HAL ST/SC EMLOYEES AND OFFICERS ASSOCIATION celebrated 126th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Bhimrao Babasaheb Ambedkar with great zeal and fervor. The programme began with garlanding of the statue by Mr.Debasis Deb, Executive Director, HAL, koraput, Mr.Arup Chatterjee,(COP-SED),chief speakerMr.R.SrinivasRao(founder-odishadalitsamaj)mr.Subash Murmur(president),Mr.Shibaji Kuanr(general secetary) all employees and officials of SC/ST Welfare Association, various union representatives HAEA,BAMS,BAEU and large number of township residents were present at bhanja mandap .

Welcome address and introduction of guest was led by mr.akshya behera.

B R Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Constitution of India, was born to a Mahar (dalit) caste family on 14 April 1891 in Mhow (now known as Dr Ambedkar Nagar, Madhya Pradesh). His father worked in the army of British East India Company. As a child, Mr Ambedkar was not allowed to sit inside class because of his caste. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar completed his school from Elphinstone High School and later pursued a degree in economics and political science from Elphinstone College, University of Mumbai. With the help of a scholarship, he completed his Masters in Economics (Major) at Columbia University and Doctor of Science in Economics from London School of Economics.Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar fought against ‘untouchability’ throughout his life. He played a major role in Mahatma Gandhi-led Harijan movement, protesting against social injustices faced by people from backward castes. He was one of the first to point out that Hinduism is the foundation of the caste system;added r.srinivas rao(chief speaker).

Later cultural programme was led by mrs. Basanti naik and Miss.Banita Maliick. various dance forms were conducted by little champs of township. Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Sunaram Tudu.
