Government of Odisha launches state-wide awareness campaign to promote complementary feeding practices

Bhubaneshwar: the Department of Women and Children Develoontent and Mission Sr., Government of Odisha today launched a statewide awareness campaign to promote complementary feeding practices for the optimal growth of chliclren between 6 months and 24 months. The state-wide awareness campaign will extend from 2018 to the end of 2019 and is in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare and UNICEF.
The Chief Guest, Shrl Prafulla Samal. Honourable Minister, WOrnen and Child Developmentand Mission Shalt, MSME g SSEPD released the campaign 1EC material and a cornpendium of nutritious recipes using locally available foods. This was accompaMed by three, six-rnonth old children being offered Anna Prasanna by the Honourable Minister together with the Principal Secretary Women and Child Development and Mission Shakti, ,overnment of Odisha. One IEC van carrying the messages was also flagged off by the minister.

Messages an frequency of meals and dietary diversity, the need to continue with breastfeeding along with solid foods and age appropriate complementary foods will be shared again and again using different forms of communication
Recognising the importance of complementary foods and feeding practices for the young children, Department Of Women and Child Development and Ntission Shakti in collaboration with Department of Health and Family Welfare, Odisha and UNICEF are initiating this campaign across the state.
