Bhubaneswar: Author and former MSME Department Secretary to Government of Odisha Panchanan Dash’s first memoir book ‘From Goatherd To Governance’ was released on Monday (16th April 2018).
In a houseful evening gathering at IDCOL Auditorium, this debut book of Panchanan Dash was released by celebrated Odia poet Jnanpith Award winner Padma Bibhushan Sitakant Mahapatra.
Among others former secretary to Government of India (Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises) Dr Ramesh Chandra Panda, secretary to Government of India (Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises) Satya Narayan Dash, poet and Income Tac Commissioner Sarat Kumar Dash, eminent entrepreneur Himanshu Das were also present as guests on stage.
Organised by well-known publication house PEN IN Books, the event witnessed a huge gathering of eminent figures from different walks of life.
Unveiling the book chief guest Sitakant Mahapatra said,
Success is not an easy gain. Every successful person has a tumultuous life journey. These stories are equally inspiring and interesting. Successful people should write their life sketches. That will inspire millions of youth.
He further added,
It’s not an easy task to write autobiography or memoir. The biggest challenge is to tell the truth, especially the bitter truth. The more you are truthful to your writing the more acceptances will be there waiting for the book.
Dr Ramesh Chandra Panda said,
Personally I know Panchanan Dash very well from very close proximity. I have seen his dedication as an administrator and his painful journey in his service life. I hope he would write those stories too. Young administrators would learn from his experiences.
Poet Sarat Kumar Dash said,
Panchanan is one my closest friends. We were studying in one class. Unlike other successful friends, Panchanan’s life struggle was really painful and worth knowing. I was almost weeping while reading the manuscript of this book. In this small book, he has written many instances from his life; ranging from his childhood predicaments to young-age love, from student life to service experiences. I wish I could read more sketches from his life in near future.
Satya Narayan Dash said,
From herding goats to placing himself in central secretariat, Panchanan Dash’s life is really an inspiring one for future administrators. He always gives emphasis on entrepreneurship and self-development. His experience and work as MSME secretary here in Odisha will also fuel his future endeavors.
Speaking at the occasion author Panchanan Dash gave more emphasis on his future plans. The recently retired author said,
I am not feeling like a retired soul. I am very much active and had many plans for Odisha in pipeline. I want to work for our youths. I want to create more entrepreneurs, not job seekers. My experience as secretary MSME in Odisha and additional secretary to Government of India are igniting me to work more. I hope this book would inspire our young friends. I will write more books and will work with the young entrepreneurs.
During the event entrepreneurs like HN Mohapatra, G Mohanty, JK Rath, Ajaya Das and Mr. Balaji from Visakhapatna also shared their experience and opinion on author Sri Dash.
Almost all guests urged the author to write the book in Odia language too.
Subhransu Panda, author and director of PEN IN Books, delivered the welcome address and gave vote of thanks. Young lawyer Upasana Bidika was compering the event.
