Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) inaugurated at NTPC Kaniha

Kaniha: Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM), flagship CSR unique initiative of NTPC Limited was inaugurated at NTPC Kaniha on Monday. The CSR workshop meant for empowerment of girls shall be conducted four-week residential workshop for 120 students for girls between 10 to 12 years old. The programme is intended for government girl students pursuing education in the neighboring 13 schools areas of the power station.

The CSR workshop will focus on empowerment of Girl children through creating awareness on various areas like hygiene, safety, security & fitness of both physical and mental through imparting academics sessions and self-defence methods for holistic personality development.

The GEM programme was inaugurated by Chief General Manager, Ramesh Babu V. Speaking on the occasion said “GEM is a special initiative by NTPC among its various CSR initiatives, the programme focuses on empowerment of girls by imparting education through multiple activities designed for the workshop ”.

During the inaugural programme, health awareness talk was given by Dr Aprajita Misra , NGO “Barefoot” faculty briefed about the programme ,martial arts show by Sridevi Pradhan and cultural dance programme by school children was organised. Registration of the participants for GEM programme was completed on Sunday. The programme will conclude on June 16,2019.

Senior officials Sudip Nag, CGM(Shared Services) N S Rao ,GM(O &M),B Maharana,GM(Maintenance) Shri Nabin Bagai ,GM(C&M) PMGV Srinivas ,AGM(HR-EDC) ,Dr R K Misra CMO ,Smt Vani V ,President ,Tanvi Sangam , executive members of ladies club , representatives of union and associations were present on the occasion.
