Freedom Fighter, Bhoodan Leader Dr.Biswanath Patnaik Birthday Observed

Baliguda : Noted Freedom Fighter, Bhoodan and Sarvadaya Leader, a renowned social activist  birthday has observed  at Banabasi Seva Samiti,Baliguda.  Biswanath Patnaik was considered an embodiment of the Mahatma in the State and was better known as ‘Koraput Gandhi’ or ‘Bada Ajna’. School  Children, Gandhians, NGOs workers, academicians  and Bhoodan activists from the district and outside gathered at Baliguda in Kandhamal district on Saturday to observe the  102 birth anniversary of Gandhian and Bhoodan leader Late Biswanath Patnaik.  On this occasion  ‘Ajna Sanman’ awarded to Dr. Madhusudan Sahu,  Malati Choudhury Sanman to Ms. Swanalata Mishra and  Gopabandhu Choudhury Sanman to Saphik Bahi on this occasion.
Inagurating the programme, Mr.   S.Krishnan K.P,  IAS, sub-collector, Baliguda shared that Banabasi Seva Samiti is a unique institution for  Kandhamal district. He shared that Baliguda is noted for Biswanath Patnaik and for Banabasi Seva Samiti.   Dr. Madhusudan Mohapatra, Principal,Malkanigiri spoke about Biswanath childhood, involvement in freedom movement, bhu-satyagraha, social empowerment programme and social activities by establishing of education institution and hostels for tribal girls, especially girls child and  disabled children. A books released on life history of Biswanath Pantaik written by Mr. Subash Mishra on this occasion.  A souvenir was also unveiled on this occasion.  Mr. SubashMishra  also spoke about his experience with Biswanath Patnaik.    In the welcome address, Mr. Rabindra Panda, Asst. Secretary spoke about the history of Banabasi Seva Samiti and  objective of the organizing the programme.  Mr. Ustav Jena, Secretary spoke about the  prizes awarded to different personalities. The meeting was presided by Mr. Lalchand Pradhan, President  of Banabasi Seva Samiti. A ‘prabhat pheri’ was taken out in the morning. In the evening  culture programme performed by the students of different centres of Banabasi Seval Samiti.
