Five labourers were killed at Udala, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic road accident at Udala in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday, five labourers were killed and 11 others injured when a pickup van carrying them overturned. CM Naveen Patnaik announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia each for the family of deceased.

While three of the deceased labourers died at the spot, two critically injured succumbed to their injuries at the Udala Sub-Divisional Hospital.

The incident occurred at around 10 am near Damasahi Chhak under the Udala police station when 18 labourers, were on their way to Jaida village for agricultural work.

Suddenly, the driver of the pickup van lost control and the vehicle turned turtle, sources said. The identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained. The local police were investigating into the incident.
