First session of 16th Odisha Assembly began today with address of Governor Ganeshi Lal; Bhubaneswar-Cuttack To Get Metro Rail Connectivity

Bhubaneswar: The first session of 16th Odisha Assembly began today with the customary address to the House by Governor Ganeshi Lal.

The session started at 11 am with the address of the Governor. On his arrival, the Governor was accorded guard of honour.

In his address, on the opening day of the first session of 16th Odisha Assembly, Governor Ganeshi Lal congratulated the new government for its fifth consecutive term and also praised for successfully tackling Cyclone FANI. Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal today said that the State government will attempt to connect the heritage silver city of Cuttack with smart city Bhubaneswar by Metro train.

Besides, the Odisha Governor also informed that the State government has hiked medical assistance of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) for women. He said the government will endeavour to create 30 lakh employment opportunities in six focus sectors and 75 per cent of jobs will be reserved for qualified local youth in all upcoming industries in Odisha.

The Governor said a Micro and Small Enterprises Welfare Board will be formed to work for the sustenance and growth of the MSME sector.

The election for Deputy Speaker will be held on 27th of this month and the budget will be presented on the next day. This session will have two phases and 30 working days. The first phase will continue till 2nd July and the second phase will begin from 12th July and will end on the 8th of August. A three-layer security arrangement has been made in and around the Assembly in view of the session.
