New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley released ‘Bhartruhari Mahtab-Outstanding Parliamentarian’ book. Along with MP Bhartruhari Mahtab former union minister Marpadi Veerappa Moily, RS MP Prasanna Acharya were presented during this occasion.
The book is a compilation Mahtab’s speeches in Parliament done by the Institute of Media Studies Utkal University. Jaitley termed the BJD leader as one of the finest speakers who do in-depth research and speak on every issue in an eloquent manner.
Finance minister Arun Jaitley has said MPs need to contribute substantively towards policy debates during legislation, going beyond “11 o’clock to 12 o’clock activism” during Question Hour and Zero Hour, to become excellent parliamentarians. He said that “pressure of populism” was taking a toll on parliamentarians’ quest for fineness and “good quality humour” in debates was losing out to shrillness.
