Bhubaneswar: Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) observes statewide 12-hr bandh over price, pension and prestige for farmers; vehicular movement disrupted in many places.
About 30 platoons of police force deployed in Bhubaneswar and 15 platoons of police force deployed in #Cuttack to avoid any untoward incident during bandh call by Navnirman Krushak Sangathan. Security also tightened in front of Secretariat.
Commissionerate Police resorted to preventive arrests in the capital city to restore normalcy starting from the morning today. 10 farmers from Patia-Nandankanan road in Bhubaneswar, over 20 from NH-16 in Bhadrak, more than 30 from Jagatsinghpur bus stand taken into preventive custody by police during their protests over price, pension & prestige.
Agitating farmers stage road blockade at several places by burning tyres affecting vehicular movement; Patia-Nandankanan road in Bhubaneswar blocked; similarly, NH-16 near Bhadrak also blocked.
