Dharmendra Pradhan criticised Odisha Govt for not giving land for establishing Paika memorial

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday criticised for not giving land for establishing a Paika memorial. He demanded that the Government provide land at Barunei so that a Paika memorial can be build and allot a piece of land at Agarpada in Bhadrak district for erecting a statue of Harekrushna Mahtab, one of the makers of modern Odisha.

He made this demand on the occasion of 119th birth anniversary of Mahtab. “The State Government has not yet provided land for establishment of Paika memorial despite repeated requests made by the Union Government,” he said and ridiculed that the Government provided 600 acres and felled thousands of trees for establishment and of a beer factory.

He said the Union Government has sought only 50 acres of land at Barunei for keeping memories of Buxi Jagabandhu and Paikas’ contribution for the State and the nation.

He lamented saying that the Odisha Government is not providing permission for putting up a statue of Mahtab at his native Agarpada village in Bhadrak district. He urged upon senior citizens to put pressure on the Government for the purpose.
