Development of quality culture is necessary for holistic development of CUO – Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty

Koraput: The overall development of higher education institution depends upon its quality culture and quality sustenance activities. Chairing the inaugural meeting of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Central University of Orissa, Vice-Chancellor Professor Sachidananda Mohanty declared that creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education has been the motto of CUO and IQAC cell of the University will act as a nodal centre for quality related activities. Prof. Mohanty also emphasised that highest standard should be ensured for all aspects of University life. He said that CUO should emerge as a ‘Quality Higher Education Institute’ in spite of remoteness of Koraput.

As per NAAC guideline, formation IQAC and submission of AQAR (Annual Quality Assurance Report) to NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) annually has become mandatory for higher education institutions as a post NAAC accreditation activity. The meeting of IQAC of CUO was held in the main campus of the University on 11 May 2018. Director of IQAC, Prof. Sharat Kumar Palita welcomed the guests and explained the important activities to be undertaken by the IQAC. The plan of action for 2018-19 was approved by the committee.

Among others Prof. S.P. Adhikary, Former Vice-Chancellor, F.M. University and Professor of Biotechnology, Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan; Dr. Asit Kumar Das, Registrar, CUO; Prof. P.C. Mohapatra, Director COATS, Koraput, Prof. K.C. Raut, Dean Academics, Prof. B.P. Rath, OSD (Admn.), Dr. Rajeeb Narayan Sahu, Manager (HR), NALCO, Damanjodi, Mr. Tushar Ranjan Behera, DGM (HR), HAL, Koraput and members of faculty in IQAC cell took part in interaction. Issues like academic development and infrastructure development were discussed in depth.

The Central University of Orissa was established in the year 2009 by an Act of Parliament. The, NAAC Peer Team visited the University for assessment and accreditation during 7th – 9th September, 2018 and CUO was accredited with B+ grade on 30th October, 2018. As a post accreditation measure IQAC will devise mechanism and ensure quality culture in academics and administration till the next NAAC accreditation cycle.
