DD camerperson from Odisha killed in Naxal attack in Dantewada; CM Naveen Patnaik, Dharmendra Pradhan condoled death

Bhubaneswar: DD camerperson from Odisha killed in Naxal attack in Dantewada. Doordarshan’s video journalist Achyutananda Sahu, who was killed in an attack by Naxals in Dantewada’s Aranpur Chhattisgarh today, has been identified as a resident of Loisingha in Balangir district of Odisha .

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the death of the Doordarshan cameraman from Odisha Achyutananda Sahu of Odisha’s Bolangir, who was martyred in a Naxal ambush in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada on Tuesday morning.

The Odisha CM took to his Twitter handle and wrote: “Deeply anguished and convey heartfelt condolences for the martyred Doordarshan cameraman from Odisha, Achyutananda Sahu and the police persons who were killed in an Maoist attack today in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh; wish the bereaved courage to overcome the irreparable loss.”
Union Ministers Rajyavardhan Rathore and Dharmendra Pradhan have condemned the attack. “Aggrieved by the dastardly act of violence by the #Naxals claiming the lives of two of our courageous #CRPF jawans and @DDNewsLive crew Achyutananda Sahoo. Strongly condemn such cowardice. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased,” said Union Miniter Dharmendra Pradhan.

 

The DD crew, who was in the state for election coverage, was accompanied by CRPF jawans. According to reports, the group was traveling from Aranpur to Nilaway when they were attacked by nearly 200 armed Maoists. Sahu and two other policemen including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) were killed and two other jawans sustained injuries after Naxals opened fire on them, the police said.
