Bhubaneswar: The intoxication of being on the top of the highest all-weather motorable pass of the world is not fading away so soon from the minds of thirteen (13) BCACians, who have recently completed an arduous cycling adventure in the extreme climatic conditions on the highway of Manali-Leh-KhardungLa. The event which started from 2nd of August 2018 from Manali completed on 11th August 2018 at KhardungLa top. The team of 13 cyclists from BCAC led by Top-Cop Sanjeeb Panda, IPS successfully completed this mentally challenging and physically demanding expedition with full honour.
To hear to this act of bravery and feel the feeling of conquering a personal Everest, a story-telling session was organized at Bakul Library, Satyanagar, Bhubaneswar by BCAC in association with the Bakul Foundation. Mr. Sujit Mohapatra, the founder of Bakul Foundation, convened this story-telling session along with Mr. Ajay Nanda, Secretary, BCAC and founder 22 Bikes.
The interactive session was organized on Saturday, 18th of August 2018 at 6PM in the premised of Bakul Library, Satyanagar. Many dignitaries, educationists, theatre artists and general public attended this story-telling session, to listen to the spine-chilling adventure and the experiences of individual members over these 10 days of mind-wrecking adventure.
Mr. Ajay Nanda and Sj. Lalit Das (IPS) shared their experiences of this adventure cycling expedition from Bhubaneswar. Other members of BCAC, who were a part of this expedition also shared their experiences and treasured moments from this adventure. It’s noteworthy to mention that Manali-Leh-KhardungLa is considered as one of the most challenging terrains of the country over a height of 17982ft with extreme climates and low oxygen levels. Apart from KhardungLa, there are five more high-altitude passes on this highway over a height of 16000ft, which has to be crossed to reach the ultimate destination at KhardungLa.
This route is considered as an extremely challenging highway, with adverse nature, climatic conditions and especially low oxygen concentration. The nature is a pure bliss on this highway, but demands toughest determination, strong willpower and extreme dedication to cover this entire stretch with only muscle power on a bicycle.
