Kandhamal: A severe cold wave is sweeping the state. Snowfall was witnessed in interior parts of Daringibadi block like Katinga, Jhingiriguda, Mandipanka, Gadapur, Sikrabarga, Sraniketa, Budaguda, Gumikia, Pliheri, Greenbadi and Parapanga.
People preferred to stay indoors due to bone-chilling cold wave condition.
The streets in the area wore a deserted look as the region was under the spell of severe fog till 9.00 am in the morning.
Similarly, 4.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani. Bhubaneswar also recorded an all time low of 8.2 degree Celsius degree on Sunday.
The IMD website mentioned nine other places in the State where temearature remained below 10 degree Celsius. They are Angul (5.6), Balasore (7.8), Bhawanipatna (6.5), Chandbali (9.5), Cuttack (8.2), Jharsuguda and Titlagarh at 7.0, Keonjhar (6.4), Koraput (7.2) and Sambalpur (7.3).
As per weather department reports, cold wave condition will prevail in the State till January 4.
