Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Indore has bagged first position in Cleanliness Survey-2016 in a programme held in context to ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ Abhiyan at Brilliant Convention Center of Indore today. Citizens of Indore deserve congratulations. This is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh government. He further mentioned that it is not easy to bag first position in the country for cleanliness, therfore constant efforts will be made to remain at the top position. Shri Chouhan mentioned that Swachhata Abhiyan is being undertaken in the entire country on the call of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Positive results have come to the fore. All the villages and cities of Madhya Pradesh will be made open defecation free till 2019. He said that cleanliness is a movement. The movement can get success only by bringing changes in the attitude of the people along with their cooperation.
Expressing happiness for successful Swachhata Abhiyan in Indore, Shri Chouhan said that cleanliness is a passion. Owing to this passion 22 cities belongs to Madhya Pradesh in this Cleanliness Survey -2016 out of 100 selected cities of the country. Construction of toilets in rural areas will not serve the purpose unless we use them. Moreover, Shri Chouhan said that plastic remains a problem of Madhya Pradesh. Plastic spreads dirtiness and it cannot be destroyed easily. He mentioned that Indore is an engine of development for Madhya Pradesh. Indore has gained top position in industry, trade including cleanliness and all other fields. Narsee Monjee, TCS and Infosys like prestigious organisations have come to Indore and are expanding their business.
Mayor Smt. Malini Gour said that Indore has proved itself number 1 in all the aspects of cleanliness survey. Cleanliness is reflected especially in Indore from door to door garbage collection started from November 2016. Students, teachers, businessmen, officers, employees, social activists and others are cooperating fully in this regard. She informed that wet and dry trash is being collected separately in Indore. Organic fertilizer is being made from wet garbage. At an average 50 tonne garbage is being collected daily. Beside organic fertliser, methane gas will be produced from wet trash in the ensuing days to run buses and to generate electricity. Apart from this, fertilizer will be produced from sludge trash through nuclear technique. Air pollution has declined upto 50 percent through special cleanliness drive in the last one and half year. Cleanliness campaign for Khan and Saraswati rivers is under way. Tapping work of sewage system connected to Khan river is being carried out speedily.

CM Shri Chouhan honoured social activists, trade organizations and sarpanchs for their special contributions in cleanliness field on the occasion. Chairman Housing Board Shri Krishnamurari Moghe, Chairman Indore Development Authority Shri Shankar Lalwani, President Jila Panchayat Smt. Kavita Patidar, MLAs Shri Mahendra Hardiya, Shri Rajesh Sonkar, Shri Sudarshan Gupta, Sushri Usha Thakur, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Radheshyam Julaniya, prominent citizens, social activists beside sarpanchs and senior administrative officers were present in the programme.
