New Delhi: The Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri H.D. Kumaraswamytoday metthe Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution,Shri Ram Vilas Paswanin New Delhiin connection with the expenditure incurred for procurement of cereals / coarse cereals.TheChief Minister of Karnataka met Shri Paswan to discussthe pending claims of the State of Karnataka amounting to a total of Rs 1127.77 crore from the period 2006-07 to 2015-16.

Officials of the Food department assured that the state government will be reimbursed approximately 450 crores of expenditure within a week of receiving the revised demand letter for the claims related to the year 2015-16. They also assured that remaining pending claims will also be resolved on war footing.

Paddy, WhiteJowar, Ragi and Maize are procured in the state. The expenditure on government procurement is reimbursed by the food department. Therefore, the department has been instructed to do video conference with the state officials every Friday, to ensure timely settlement of pending claims, which will save time and help the State government from getting it dues as early as possible.
