Report by Nishapati Nayak, Sunabeda: A symposium on ‘21st Century Odia Literature: Aim and Objectives’ was organized by the Department of Odia Language and Literature of the Central University of Orissa on 20 February, 2017 at its Sunabeda Campus. Prof. (Retd.) Baishnab Charan Samal, Former professor of Odia, Visva-Bharati and Shri Dash Benhur, Eminent Odia writer address the Symposium. Prof. Kishore Chandra Raut, Dean-Academics presided over the programme. Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, congratulates the students and faculty of the department for organizing the programme in his message.
Prof. Mohanty in his message congratulates and motivates the students to actively participate in the programme and advised them to acquire knowledge from the resource persons. He also advised the students to read primary literature and published genuine work in Odia literature. Prof. Samal pointed out some of the significant changes and development in the contemporary Odia literature. He said “the aim of the Odia literature has to creating awareness among the people for involvement in the process of reformation of the society”.
Sh. Dash Benhur said “Odia literature has a bright future and students should work for it. Language reflects the culture and culture survive in its language. Therefore in upcoming days Odia literature will be the base for the cultural development as it reflect the contemporary life and positive thoughts of the society”.
Prof. Raut, in his presidential address advised the students to engage themselves in the primary research and work for the development of the Odia literature.
Dr. Alok Baral, HoD of Dept. of Odia Language and Literature organized the prgramme. Dr. Ganesh Prashad Sahu, Lecturer Dept. of Odia gave vote of thanks. Sushree Subhashree Sampada Mishra, P.hD scholar of the department compared the programme. Students and faculty members of the University were present at a large in this occasion.
