Report by Nishapati Nayak, Koraput: The Central University of Orissa, Koraput organized a felicitation ceremony for its students in its Main Campus at Sunabeda. The CUO students performed extremely well in two big events-the Ek Bharat Sreshtha Bharat, a flagship programme of the MHRD, where Odisha was paired with Maharashtra and the Central Zone Inter University Competition, also known as Youth Fest, organized by Association of Indian Universities & Sambalpur University. Today’s event was a gesture to recognize the achievements of its students by the CUO.
Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CUO congratulated the achievers and emphasized on the University’s constant endeavour to encourage culture and literary activities by the students in the campus. He explained the importance of Ek Bharat Sreshtha Bharat as an effort t to learn and respect culture of other states besides one’s own. He congratulated the participants of Ek Bharat Sreshtha bharat and the participants of the Youth Fest who had bagged the 3rd position in the ‘Cultural Procession’ event. Prof. Mohanty encouraged the students to go ahead in their creative pursuit which can have a positive impact on the society.
Prof. Sharat Kumar Palita, Dean, SBCNR & DSW (Acting) in his opening note congratulated the CUO community for the fabulous achievement and encouraged the students. He thanked the CUO administration. Especially senior officials Prof. K.C Raut, Dean Academics and Prof. B.P Rath, OSD, examination & Students Affairs for their valuable contribution. Mr. Saurav Gupta, Asst. Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and Convener, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and Dr. Rudrani Mohanty, Lecturer, Department of Odia Language and Literature & Team Leader, CUO team at Youth Fest narrated their experience of organizing the respective events. Bothe of them thanked Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Hon’ble VC, CUO for his inspiring support.
The participants of both events were given away certificates and medals by the Hon’ble VC, CUO after which they presented a cultural programme. The vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Sushant Kumar, Lecturer, Dep’t of Computer Science, CUO who had also accompanied the CUO team to Sambalpur. The programme was well attended by the Faculty, staff and students.
