celebrates its 8th Commencement Day

Cuttack: Sri Sri University held its Commencement Ceremony to start the 8th academic year, for its undergraduate and post graduate students from diverse fields viz., Commerce and Management, Agriculture, Architecture, Yogic Sciences, Osteopathy, Sanskrit, English, Physics, Computer Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Fine Arts and Animation in the presence of esteemed leaders from academia and the industry.
Eight years since its inception, Sri Sri University has more than 2000 students and staff from almost all states of India and seven countries of the world across several fields of study. Eight new courses namely, IMBA, IMCom, BSc and MSc in Data Science, MSc (Applied Mathematics), BSc (Hons) Agribusiness, BSc (Hons) Physics, MA (English), and MCom got introduced in this academic year.
The auspicious ceremony started with chanting of Vedic Mantras by the scholars of Gurukul followed by cultural performances by faculty and students of Performing Arts and Yogic Sciences. Vice Chancellor of the varsity, Prof. Ajay Kumar Singh, started the Commencement Day with a highly energizing introductory speech. He welcomed the new batch students to the happiest campus with his words of wisdom.
The Chief Guest of the event, Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Revenue & Disaster Management, Government of Odisha, imparted handy life principle tips to the students. He advised them to have different point of views and to prepare to become a good, responsible citizen of our nation. He also said that one should never stop learning and always be ready to face difficult situations which will further put their will power at test.
Mrs Kanchana TK, Director General, Organisation of Pharmaceuticals Producers of India (OPPI) and the Guest of Honour for the ceremony enlightened the students with some really useful advices to help them in making optimum utilisation of their journey as students in Sri Sri University. She asked them to practice self-care, seek the truth for what it is, continuously fuel the curiosity and become environmentally, socially and ethically responsible. She also suggested the students to indulge in sports or physical activities for their overall development.
Mrs Rajita Kulkarni, President, Sri Sri University, listed down five necessary skills that any student needs in order to navigate themselves in this fast-paced world, namely- Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Compassion.
Mr. Narendra Lamba, Director of Operations and Dr. Virat Chirania, Senior Faculty Member of Art of Living, Sri Sri University, welcomed the students of the new academic session and wished them luck for their journey ahead in the campus.
Sri Sri University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the CII- Young Indians Bhubaneswar Chapter, Odisha. This MoU aims at encouraging participation of young people both in their organization as well as in the life of society as a whole.
Service is one of the major pillar of any institution. Hence, Sri Sri University inaugurated its National Service Scheme (NSS) with two units in which students from all fields of study will take part in various service initiatives regularly.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Commodore Ghanashyam Ojha, Executive Registrar, Sri Sri University.
“I was a bit reluctant on sending my daughter to Sri Sri University for her undergraduate course as it is situated far away from our hometown and this is the first time that she will be staying in a hostel. But, after coming here and experiencing the environment of this campus, I can say with assurance that my daughter is in safe hands and she has found a home away from home.”, said eminent flutist, Mr. Ratnakar Tripathy.
“Today’s commencement day was really inspiring and I grabbed a lot of knowledge points from the experienced speakers which I shall definitely put to use in my life ahead. I am proud to be a student in this innovative university and I am looking forward to grow as a better human being.” said Ms. Diksha Kajaria, a fresher of Master in Buisness Administration.
The university which was established in 2012, by world renowned spiritual leader, humanitarian and the Founder of Art of Living, Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji has the vision of integrating the best of Western innovation and the best of Eastern wisdom and values which is bringing a lot of pride to the state.
