Bhubaneswar celebrates “Feed A Stray Day”- a mega feeding drive for Street animals by ‘Animal Welfare Trust – Ekamra (AWTE)

 

Bhubaneswar: Today “Feed A Stray Day” a campaign to feed the stray animals has been celebrated by “Animal Welfare Trust – Ekamra (AWTE)” in Bhubaneswar. Starting from Old Town they have covered many locations like Bapuji Nagar, Unit-1, Saheed Nagar, Acharya Vihar, Nayapalli, Patia, Chandrasekhar Pur, Baramunda, Khandagiri & Patrapada. More than 30 members and volunteers have taken part in distributing food to the helpless stray animals like dogs, cattle etc. The food includes Rotis, Biscuits, Rice, Eggs, Chicken and Vegetables/Straws for Cattle Many animal lovers from different corners have contributed for this noble cause. This Campain is being celebrated on April 15 since last year.

Purabi Patra, animal activist & founder of AWTE quoted, “We have started this campaign last year itself and got good response from the animal lovers across Bhubaneswar. This year we are even more hopeful. The main intention of this campaign is to aware people to treat animals well and feed them whether it’s a pet or a stray as animals are a vital part of our environment and the most trusted friends of ours and they should have their right to live”.

AWTE has been an active organization in Patrapada, Bhubaneswar serving for animals and organizing many campaigns to bring awareness in Animal Welfare throughout the year like Providing water for strays through Project ‘Boond’, Adopting Indie dogs and cats, stopping animal cruelty, making our festivals animal friendly etc. Most of the Members and volunteers are professionals/students and they always try to make some time towards serving the needy animals.
