Archaeological Survey of India began examining the Garbha Gruha of Jagannath Temple

Puri: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) began examining the Garbha Gruha (sanctum sanctorum) of the Jagannath Temple here on Monday.

A team of experts from the Central Institute of Mining & Fuel Research and the Central Building Research Institute started the process after the Lords’ departure to the Gundicha Temple on their chariots for the annual nine-day Rath Yatra.

After inspecting the sanctum sanctorum, the team members would hold a review meeting. The repair work of the affected parts of the Garbha Gruha would be made after preparing a detailed report about the structural condition of the temple.
