Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar conducted a walkathon to commemorate day of World Arthritis day

Bhubaneswar: October 12th is celebrated World wide as World Arthritis Day. This is the occasion on which everyone takes a pledge to work for enhancement of early diagnosis and effective treatment in people with arthritis to tide over this crippling disease.

On this important occasion Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar has conducted a walkathon to commemorate the day of World Arthritis day and spread the awareness regarding the need for early diagnosis and treatment of different joint diseases which affect the livelihood of an individual.

This year’s theme being “it’s in your hands, take action”, this walkathon was designated to spread understanding of arthritis related diseases among general public. Flagging off the walkathon ace hockey player and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shri Dilip Tirkey emphasize on the need of early intervention and treatment in patients of arthritis to decrease the disease burden in the society.

Mr Sudhir Diggikar, Regional CEO, Odisha & Chhattisgarh highlighted on Apollo Hospitals’ commitment in providing the general public the most advanced methods of diagnosis and treatment for all types of arthritis.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Debabrata Padhy, Senior Consultant Orthopaedics the number of rheumatoid and musculoskeletal diseases are on the rise in the state which needs specialized attention of a rheumatologist, Orthopaedics surgeon and physiotherapist. He also announced the launch of a special Arthritis Profile Package which will help senior citizens and others in early diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

Dr Ajit kumar Surin, Senior Consultant Rheumatologist told about the advancement in the medical management of all types of arthritis which has gone a long way decreasing the disability associated with these diseases.
