Kaniha: The 127th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated at Talcher Kaniha on 21.04.2018.The event was organised by SC and ST Employees Welfare Association,NTPC Kaniha.
Shri Ram Kuber ,Executive Director, Talcher Kaniha was the Chief Guest and Prof. Chief Speaker: Prof. Mihir Ranjan Sethi OD, Political Science & Dy.Registrar ,RD Women’s University, Bhubaneswar was the Chief Speaker of the occasion. The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of lamps and floral tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar by the dignitaries & members of the association.
Shri Birupakshya Pradhan, President, SC& ST association,NTPC Kaniha gave the welcome address.Shri Pradhan in his address spoke the life of Amdedkar and how he become a famous personality through academic achievements with limited resources & challenges.
GM(O &M) Shri A K Tripathy addressing said “ Ambedkar was a social activist who worked for the eradication of caste system & social inequality.
Speaking on the occasion Executive Director, Shri Kuber Sarkar shared the contribution of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.He said, “he is remembered as the father of the Indian Constitution, Ambedkar was multi-faceted, prominent economist & social reformer. He said the best tribute to him will be the eradication of social evils for which he advocated all his life”’He added that Baba Saheb Ambedkar was visionary, he suggested for the implementation “Right to Education” and ”Common Civil Code” long back.
Chief Speaker of the occasion, Prof Sethi deliberated the life of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and appealed all to follow the footsteps of Ambedkar.” He said that “the contribution of Ambedkar towards protection of Dalits is inspiring”.He stated that the need of the hour is the reconciliation of lower caste and upper caste as it happened in America between white and black and apartheid in South Afrcia. He will be always remembered as a person of immense knowledge, great nationalist & advocate of labour rights .
Prizes for winners of various essay & quiz competitions organised on this occasion were given away on this occasion by the dignitaries.Vote of thanks was given by Shri Arun Kumar Naik ,Secretary ,SC & ST association.
Office bearers of SC&ST Employees Welfare Association, representatives of union and association and employees with family members were present on this occasion.In-house cultural programme comprising a variety of dances including modern & traditional dance was organised to celebrate the special day. The programme was anchored by Miss Abhipsha Mohanty & Miss Rosalin Sahoo.
